Biografie

Glauder ROCHA (1939-1981, Brazil) was a key figure in the Brazilian Cinema Novo movement during the 60s and 70s. Rocha was a member of the radical left and his work was renowned for its political content. He had his international breakthrough with the film Black God, White Devil (1964), which was nominated for a Golden Palm. In 1969 he won the Golden Palm for Best Director for his film Antonio das Mortes. In 1971 he left Brazil in voluntary exile, to return only a few days before his death in 1981.
