Scott Aversano

SCOTT AVERSANO is an independent film and television producer who executive produced the 2012 hit Safe House, directed by Daniel Espinosa and starring Denzel Washington, Vera Farmiga, Ryan Reynolds and Brendan Gleeson. He also produced Robert Luketic's Killers, starring Ashton Kutcher and Katherine Heigl, and "Ghosts/Aliens," a pilot for Comedy Central. Aversano's credits as executive producer include The Last Airbender, helmed by M. Night Shyamalan, and Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging, directed by Gurinder Chadha.
Aversano Films is prepping Larry's Kidney, to be directed by Richard Linklater and starring Zach Galifianakis and Will Ferrell. Production is scheduled to begin in the spring on this adaptation of the memoir by Daniel Asa Rose.
Before launching his Aversano Films banner, the producer was tapped to create the MTV Films/Nickelodeon Movies division for Paramount Pictures and Viacom. With an annual development budget of $35 million and a $350 million production budget, Aversano designed the division to produce six movies a year. Part of his duties as president included overseeing the label's annual slate of films, including the acquisition of literary properties and the development and production of motion pictures.
Aversano spent seven years as president of Scott Rudin Productions, where he was responsible for the development and management of one of Hollywood's most prolific and successful film production companies. During his tenure, the company's films were nominated for 33 Oscars® and 30 Golden Globe Awards®, winning seven Academy Awards® and nine Golden Globes. Aversano's credits while at Scott Rudin Productions include Failure to Launch (producer), Team America (executive producer), Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events (co-producer), The Manchurian Candidate (executive producer), The School of Rock (executive producer), Changing Lanes (co-producer) and Orange County (producer).
Prior to joining Rudin, Aversano was director of development at Paramount Pictures from 1997 through 1999. Working in that capacity, he served as an executive on 12 films including Wonder Boys, South Park: Bigger, Longer, Uncut, Bringing out the Dead and Runaway Bride. In 1996, Aversano started his career in the entertainment industry at Sid Ganis' company, Out of the Blue Entertainment.
Aversano graduated with honors from Brown University, earning his B.A. in English literature. He has an M.A. in English literature from the University of Michigan, where he taught English from 1991 to 1996.
