The heroines of the film are the two Szkalla sisters. When they were young they were bright and pretty, but now they are old and live separately from each other. Giza is the more lonesome. She is handicapped and bound to wheel-chair and lives with his son in Munich. Mrs. Orbán is a widow and gives singing classes to make her living in Budapest. She is having her last romance with Csermlényi, her old suitor, a retired tenor. When she is in a good mood, she plays cat play with her lodger, Egérke. The sisters phone each other every day, and their past is recalled in melancholic waves of flashbacks. Giza gives some soothing advice to her sister experiencing jealousy and passion again because Csermlényi turns out to be unfaithful to her. Giza would like Erzsi to move to her place in Munich to be with her when she dies. (Verleiher-Text)
