This is the story of the 40-year-old, yet-to-be-married couple John and Siri Lill. He is a drunken typesetter for the newspaper Dagbladet, she is a reputable hairdresser in their mutual friend Birgers struggling salon. John, always with a beer in his hand in the wrong place at the wrong time, causes Siri Lill to leave him, enraged, only to return after some miserable days with her parents in Odalen. She comes home to a boyfriend with an alcohol-induced blackout, a half-empty apartment, and a wino in the sofa.
