Schwarze Tage

Disasters and catastrophes are generally made much of on the front pages of all newspapers. But sharply contrasting with those people who, under the guise of being horrified, exult in natural disasters and multiple collisions that they will forget about within a week, are the experiences of the victims and their relatives. Schwarze tage takes the audience to the stages of three catastrophes: the plane disaster in Lockerbie, Scotland, on 21 December 1988, the catastrophe with the ferry in Zeebrugge, Belgium on 7 March 1987, and the avalanche in Acla on 6 April 1975. While on the face of it the traces of what happened back then have disappeared, the dead buried and the houses rebuilt, the witnesses to these events vividly recall all the details. One of the main characters in this film is a truck driver from The Hague, who survived the disaster with the ferry. (International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam)
