Nur die halbe Geschichte

Wie einen Film ein charakterloses schüchternes Mädchen, ohne jegliche Möglichkeit ihr Fan zu werden, ausmachen kann, das ist mir wirklich nicht klar. Aber andererseits ist der Film ehrlich, er wirkt sehr realistisch und behandelt ein nicht gerade übliches Thema. In verängstigten Amerika würden ihn viele Leute nicht verdauen können, aber für ein gedankenfreies fortschrittliches Europa ist es eine chillige Romantik mit einigen interessanten Ideen. Quite an unusual psychological drama with younger cast. Finally, Netflix has taken a slightly more adventurous route, both in script and style. I was pleasantly surprised by the film's relative relationship and faith versatility (I was expecting classic LGBT propaganda), as well as the performances. It does a pretty good job of conveying the perspective of high school life and a man trying to understand not only his surroundings but more importantly himself. Anyway, after thinking about it for a while, nothing in particular tempts me to pick this up as a higher than average film. But it is quite possible that I will change my mind in time. (14.05.2020)

A little bit of Cyrano, a dash of John Hughes, a lot of classic coming of age story from small town America, all wrapped up in a classic indie package. Very nice. (01.09.2020)

I was a little worried about the girl falling in love with a girl and it being awkward, but I ended up being pleasantly surprised because it wasn't like that at all. Quite the opposite. Mostly it wasn't even about gender at all, it was more about relationships between people, building friendships, discovering yourself, and doing it in a very comfortable and natural way. It was good to watch, there was no cringe, it went along nicely. It's a nice show from high school in the middle of nowhere. (06.05.2020)
