Der Ex-CIA-Agent Joe Hallenbeck hält sich mit miesen Jobs als Privatdetektiv über Wasser und mit viel Alkohol bei Laune. Als er als Bodyguard der Stripperin Cory versagt und diese ermordet wird, packt Joe der Ehrgeiz: Zusammen mit Corys Freund, dem drogensüchtigen Ex-Footballstar Jimmy Dix, macht Joe Jagd auf die Mörder.
