The German King

Set in the early 20th century, this is the true story of Rudolf Manga, Prince of the Douala. Having been educated in both Africa and Europe, the Prince spent time in the German Kaiser’s household. After his father’s death, the African prince became King and returned home to Cameroon, where he sees his people being subjugated and enslaved under Kaiser Wilhelmʼs II oppressive colonial rule. He realizes the only way to put an end to the suffering of his people is to lead a rebellion against the man he once considered his brother. (Pan African Film Festival)
