Documentary about the first Czech team in the world's toughest bicycle race. Race Across America (RAAM) is the world's toughest road bicycle race. Its route takes cyclists across the USA from coast to coast, it is just one stage, a time-trial, 4860 km long with a total climb of over 50,000 meters and the time limit of just 9 days! Thus it is necessary to ride non-stop – covering 12 states, all major North American mountain ranges, rivers of Colorado, Missouri and Mississippi, heat of the deserts, never-ending windy plains, towns, cities and remote areas, and also four time zones.
"Team Czech Republic 1" is the first ever Czech team in the 33 year history of RAAM. Members of the four-person team David Bures, Michal Jon, Jiri Kalousek and Jiri Kriz – all experienced racers – finish RAAM 2014 in an unbelievable time of 6 days 22 hours and 41 minutes and take 10th place in a strong field of contenders!
The documentary called "Czech Indians conquer America" does not show a mere "hour-long" pedaling of racing cyclists – but uses the race to tell a story of the four Czechs who decided to ride over their limits. It takes viewers behind the scenes and shows the formation of the Czech team, team strategy and overall atmosphere all of which is undoubtedly unique.
And above all, the documentary does not lack quirky Czech humor that formed an integral part of this adventurous road to success. The success only a very few had expected. (Mezinárodní festival outdoorových filmů)
