Fifteen-year old Frances Elizabeth "Gidget" Lawrence came to California and fell in love with surfing and boys. The 1965 television series captured the peaks and valleys of Gidget's summer of sun, fun, family, and first love, and showcased the talents of soon-to-be-famous Richard Dreyfuss and Barbara Hershey, and the winsome debut of Sally Field.
