Der ehemalige KGB- Offizier Andrei arbeitet als gut bezahlter Killer für die besten Kreise der Stadt. Seine außergewöhnliche Bildung und seine Leidenschaft für Schach haben ihm den Insidernamen Der Poet eingebracht. Als er Fotokünstler Rick, der unfreiwillig Zeuge eines Auftrags wurde, ausschalten muß und in dessen Fotomappe Bilder einer geheimnisvollen, toten Schönheit findet, beginnt er sich für das Leben des Opfers zu interessieren. Auf der post-mortem-Vernissage des Künstlers lernt er die vermeintliche Tote von den Bildern kennen. Es ist Ricks Schwester Paula. Zwischen den beiden entflammt eine gefährliche Romanze, während sie im Visier der Auftraggeber und der Wahrheit stehen... (Kinowelt)
