The story of three friends, Tomáš, Jožka and Hubert, brings the viewers to the picturesque town of Levín in 1900. In his love for a classmate, the go-ahead Tomáš makes every effort to win the best pupil award - and illustrated issue of Old Czech Legends. But when it turns out that he is cheating he and his two friends run away and hide in a nearby ruin. There they, however, get involved in something much bigger and more dangerous. (JuniorFest)

There are films we remember from childhood as amazing experiences, only to find, upon revisiting them years later, that they've aged and simply don't work for us as adults. Gentlemen Boys is one of those rare exceptions where the cinematic experience repeats itself every time I watch the film again. I become a boy again, embarking on adventurous journeys, with plenty of free time and the ability to enjoy it despite occasional adult disapproval. Whenever the familiar movie melody plays and the voice invites me, "Don't just stand there, come on," I go and once again immerse myself in the world of my childhood memories. Overall impression: 90%.

Ein sehr behaglicher und sorgloser Film. Mehr als die sympathischen Kinderhelden haben mich aber die Erwachsenen interessiert. Vor allem Iva Janžurová und die drei tollen Pädagogen Petr Nárožný – Josef Somr – Václav Lohniský. Petr Hapka hat eine tolle Musik komponiert, die wahrscheinlich in der ersten Szene von Jiří Lábus am besten zur Geltung kommt.
