Zhui long II: Zei wang

Hong Kong is having a very weak year and this was not very good. Like The White Storm 2, Chasing the Dragon 2 is a completely pointless sequel that parasitizes on its successful predecessor. It features a lot of well-known actors, but the only ones worth mention are Louis Koo and Tony Leung Ka-fai, who delivers a good villain, and that's where the pros end for me. There is only one action scene and it's over before it starts. Forget about fights and the brief shootout is very dodgy. Gone is Donnie Yen and gone is the action, so I really don't know what they were hoping for. It doesn't really work as a story about the rise of a drug lord either. At least the finale is somewhat suspenseful, but that's not really enough for me. A big disappointment. It might have been average, but since the film is useless and offers nothing attractive I'm going with a lower rating.
