Big Little Lies (2017)

Englisch I really enjoyed the series. Its biggest weakness is that it seems to lack energy until about the fifth episode. It’s not that the first four episodes are bad, I just felt like the story didn't really kick into full gear until Episode 5. After the first episode I was hesitating whether to continue watching, but I hung in there and I don't regret it. On the contrary. I even decided to get the book on which it was based so I could compare it with the show. ()

Season 1 (2017) (S01)

Englisch After a shaky start, the story started unfolding in an interesting way, the authors provided more and more insight into all the main characters. I ended up having a surprisingly good time. 4*+ ()

Willkommen in Monterey (2017) (S01E01)

Englisch The pilot seemed to me to be quite chaotic, the story jumped like a drunk frog back and forth, in addition to that, there was an introduction to a fairly large group of characters and I wasn't too sure if this series would interest me. Then the conflict at school came, the boy narrowly avoided lynching, and I understood that the series would be about amazing American morality, education, and other similar matters, and it was clear that there would be more episodes as well. ()

Stutenbissigkeiten (2017) (S01E02)

Englisch I'm glad that I gave the series a chance, the second episode develops individual characters and the story, the conflicts between both sides are spreading even among those who were previously uninterested, and as is typical for American culture, there is also a case of sexual harassment in the first grade of elementary school, so overall I'm satisfied. Additionally, I have to admit that alongside Nicole Kidman, Reese Witherspoon delivers the best acting performance, even though I don't particularly like her. ()

Geplatzte Träume (2017) (S01E03)

Englisch Okay, it's definitely decided, this series is good. With each episode, the creators offer me the opportunity to get to know the individual characters better and to immerse myself in the story. I am actually surprised at how much the story, mostly about women in households, their relationships and children, has captivated me, but it has happened. ()

Hart auf hart (2017) (S01E04)

Englisch I don't know if it's just my feeling or reality, but with every episode, the series seems to be getting better. It's funny that Ziggy should visit a psychologist because it looks like he belongs to the minority in the community who, unlike others, doesn't need such help. ()

Gebrannte Kinder (2017) (S01E05)

Englisch I have already made up my mind, it really gets better with each episode. In this one, the events really started moving nicely, I got immersed in the plot, and before I knew it, so much time had passed and it was over. More and more, I regret that Renata doesn't have more space in the series because Laura Dern portrays her excellently. ()

Abgesang (2017) (S01E07)

Englisch A high-quality conclusion of a high-quality series. The school party was successful, the story plot escalated very well, and I had a great time, even though I figured out who was behind the bullying among the first graders and who signed Jane so ugly. ()

Season 2 (2019) (S02)

Englisch I’ve said before that I had serious concerns about the second season, and even though a few of the episodes had some obvious flaws, the result was a pleasant surprise. Two new characters appeared in the story: while Elizabeth Howard only served to stretch out the story, Mary Louise Wright portrayed by Meryl Streep was a great addition to it. An incredibly annoying woman with lips clenched like the rectum of a heterosexual at a gay bar. An excellent character. I can tell by the fact that I occasionally thought about how happy I would be if she had some sort of a fatal accident. The second season was a bit weaker than the first one, but deserves four stars for its excellent atmosphere. ()

Was haben sie getan? (2019) (S02E01)

Englisch I wasn't looking forward to the second season too much, I was worried that it would just be a follow-up to the success of the first season, but the opening episode definitely did not disappoint me. Sure, the pace was slow, but I expected that after the previous series. However, the plot seemed interesting to me, and Mary Louise Wright played by Meryl Streep was annoying, so I am curious to see how it will unfold. ()

Verräterische Herzen (2019) (S02E02)

Englisch The plot of the second episode went qualitatively higher compared to the first part, and my rating keeps up with it. Nothing significant happened in this part overall, but all the small details are excellently elaborated on. The creators managed to deliver a quality atmosphere to the story once again, and I really enjoyed it. ()

Das Ende der Welt (2019) (S02E03)

Englisch The third episode brought a certain plot stagnation, so I had to shorten my review slightly. The main storyline didn't develop much, instead, I got a more detailed look at the American education system, which once again confirmed what I have been thinking about it for a long time. ()

Vorahnungen (2019) (S02E04)

Englisch Even this time, the plot of the story didn't progress too much, while last time it was the school that took up a good portion of time, this time it was Amabella's celebration. I can't help it, but these constant flashbacks are starting to irritate me just like Mary Louise. She is as annoying as a sore foot, so I praise the screenwriter for how they wrote her and Meryl Streep for how she played her. ()

Hassliebe (2019) (S02E05)

Englisch I can't shake the feeling that the second season is somehow losing its touch. The stories of individual characters have become repetitive, except for Celeste, whose trial is looming. The plot completely stagnates and what was discussed in the previous episode is rehashed in this one. If I were to apply the rating system from my favorite movie, these would be the same mistakes with the same grades, but I would deduct half a star (not that it would make any difference). 4*. ()

Die schlechte Mutter (2019) (S02E06)

Englisch The sixth episode finally brought the much-needed development. The creators handled the trial with absolute mastery, and I would gladly add a fifth star if it weren't for the completely unnecessary storyline with dying Elizabeth. This character was clearly added to the story to prolong the plot. ()

Jetzt will ich's wissen (2019) (S02E07)

Englisch The final of the second season and actually the whole series was not bad at all, the previous episode already improved my mood a bit and the ending just emphasized it. Just like in the previous part, I didn't like the contrived plot around Elizabeth, but the court trial was successful again and Renata's hurricane amused me. ()
