Maksymiuk. Koncert na dwoje

Jerzy Maksymiuk, the conductor, composer and pianist, 80 years old, never slows down. Demanding of himself and others, merciless to poor performers, he is still fascinated by music and focused on his scores till it borders on madness. A charismatic maestro admired in London, Glasgow and Paris, he is totally helpless in everyday life without his wife’s assistance. We accompany the main character on a journey during which we will get to know an artist who is tremendously private. This portrait is full of colourful episodes, little weaknesses, but also compulsions sometimes on the border of the mental norm. Is outstanding talent paid for with loneliness in the ordinary, “normative” world? Jerzy’s wife, Ewa, is a character of equal importance, as she, although not sharing his gift, is absolutely indispensable to him, being a condition on which his art and existence are contingent.
