In the kingdom of Sylvania, the aged cabinet ministers worry over the fact that Queen Louise is not married. Then, Count Alfred returns in disgrace from Paris, where he has carried on numerous affairs with young ladies. Learning of his escapades, the queen invites him to demonstrate his romantic prowess. The cabinet is pleased by their blossoming romance and Louise and Alfred marry, but the power struggle between the sexes and Alfred’s pride could get in the way of their happy ending.
