Miracle Workers - Série 1

Eternal rest sounds great... A cynical view of how our world works which, given deeper thought, might not be so dumb after all. Radcliffe as a burned out optimistic loner working in a department that everybody has forgotten about is just perfect. Buscemi’s God is divine, a bored, self-centered illiterate being who tries to look cool in front of everybody oscillates somewhere between the Big Lebowski and a five-year-old. His bet with Jr. concerning the small miracle of saving our planet is slightly superficial, but I must admit that I wasn’t sure until the end how things would pan out with human kind. A pile of dead bodies, red tape and unfilled forms. (17.08.2021)

Genau so eine Serie habe ich gebraucht. Eine ausgezeichnete Idee, zynischer schwarzer Humor, der göttliche Steve Buscemi und der so natürliche Daniel Radcliffe, dass ich mich kein einziges Mal an einen gewissen Zauberer mit einer Brille erinnert habe. Geraldine Viswanathan ist für mich eine neue Entdeckung und ich habe den Eindruck, dass ich sie ab jetzt gerne – egal wo – sehen werde. (21.03.2020)

A completely undemanding, relaxing series you can watch in a single afternoon. If I weren't an atheist, I would find God as portrayed by Steve Buscemi very realistic. The world seems to be ruled by exactly this sort of irresponsible dimwit. For once, I didn't mind the multicultural cast, this was exactly the type of series in which it fit perfectly (although the Indian woman as a barbarian warrior was a little odd to say the least...). It wasn't amazing, but it was funny. I had a few laughs, which is the whole point, right? (06.06.2020)
