In a movie theater, a man is murdered. The victim's step-son, Xu Feng, is placed on the list of suspects, but leaves town after being acquitted. A decade after, Detective Chen encounters Wang Dong, a famous doctor wearing a mask, and recalls the murder case that happened ten years earlier. While chasing the case again, Chen faces a shocking truth. Ten years before, while reading Tolstoy's Resurrection, Xu Feng, abused by his step-father, sent a letter to Wang Dong, a medical student.
