Set in an idyllic mountain town overrun by migrant oil workers from a nearby fracking facility and swamped by a rising tide of crime, Tin Star tells the emotionnaly charged and sometimes funny tale of Jim Worth (Tim Roth), a good-humored, teetotal family man and zealous police chief, whose peaceful life is shattered when a newly arrived gang of criminals murder his infant son in a botched attempt to assasinate him. This act – and the shameful responsibility Jim bears for his own cowardice when he ducks to avoid the assassins bullet combined with his refusal to aknowledge the past triggers Jim's alchoholism. And Jim's alcholism takes the form of an alter-ego: a hard-drinking, charming, deceitful and ruthlessly violent past self, called Jack Devlin. (HBO Europe)

Tin Star (2017)

Englisch I’m rating the series after having seen only two seasons, because I can’t find the will to continue watching. The story follows the fate of the Worth family, but the plot is often lacking in logic. It is full of unrelatable characters who often behave as if they suffered from schizophrenia, so not even Tim Roth and Christina Hendricks could save this. A huge disappointment. ()

Season 1 (2017) (S01)

Englisch I managed to finish Season 1 which makes me really proud. I decided to watch this show because of Tim Roth and Christina Hendricks, but after the first season, I regret my decision. The script was quite decent in the beginning, but with an increasing number of episodes, it quickly ran out of steam. There wasn’t a single character I could relate to. The worst thing is that I have the second season ahead of me, so whiskey will be flowing again tomorrow... ()

Gelächter und Gemetzel (2017) (S01E01)

Englisch The pilot episode left me with a rather strange impression. At times, I had a feeling that the creators went a bit overboard and overloaded the plot with things that have all been done here at least once. Although the sheriff is not divorced and does not have children in shared custody, this small omission was replaced with alcohol, and the first cliché was born. There will definitely be troubles due to the refinery/incinerator/power plant/factory/mine* (*cross out as appropriate), so it will certainly be about economic interests, and I can only hope in silence that we won't also see the involvement of Greenpeace because of Anna. The third star goes to Christina Hendricks for her performance in the opening episode, as I like her, and therefore I can be objective... ()

Der Kleine (2017) (S01E02)

Englisch Christina Hendricks was fine again (she should just appear more often), but the story disappointed me greatly. The characters behaved strangely throughout, to say the least, and the last third of the second episode convinced me that the writers should be physically punished for such a performance. ()

Der Fremde (2017) (S01E03)

Englisch In different circumstances, I would be confused by the constant time shifts, and it would definitely have a negative impact on my rating, considering that the creators never forgot to include the time indication. On the contrary, it was the most dynamic episode so far, which I quite enjoyed. 3*+. ()

Jack (2017) (S01E04)

Englisch Even though I really try to meet the creators halfway, the series has not yet managed to draw me into the plot, I simply haven't gotten hooked on it as I would expect from a quality production. Granted, there is quite a bit of intrigue in the series so far, and there is no shortage of action scenes, but the problem is that, despite the creators' efforts, it still feels bland and uninspiring to me. ()

Der Köder (2017) (S01E05)

Englisch So far, I have been able to justify a three-star rating to myself (except for one episode). However, with the fifth episode, I couldn't do it anymore. Besides the feeling that some Canadian distillery financed the whole thing, I was intrigued by the extremely strange behavior of the individual characters, and disappointed by the decision of the creators to show me more of some actresses than I would like to see (considering the selected samples). Not to mention that Mr. and Mrs. Worth have stranger tastes than the authors of Japanese porn. ()

Kuckuck (2017) (S01E06)

Englisch The sixth episode didn't annoy me in the same way as the previous one, so I was able to add another star to my rating. True, there were some inconsistencies that occasionally occurred, but I bravely ignored them all until the scene with choking in the car. I have choked several times before (seriously), and while desperately gasping for breath, I definitely did not take off my glasses or try to improve my outfit in any way. ()

Enthüllungen (2017) (S01E07)

Englisch Even the extraordinary appearance of Christina Hendricks couldn't save this for me. The plot of the seventh episode brought more strange scenes that didn't make much sense. For example, the meeting between Elizabeth and Jaclyn was unbelievably stupid, to the point where I thought the creators were making fun of me. ()

Dies sei der Vers (2017) (S01E08)

Englisch No... If it continues like this, I will probably not avoid dropping out. This was a brutal collection of nonsense, I have already experienced such feelings with the series Banshee, and here it is again. The rescue of the princess (read as a bunch of idiots) from the clutches of a disgusting, perverted biker was a real "experience", moreover, I have a feeling that it would be best for Anna (and for everyone else, including the viewers) if her mother took her to the woods and shortened her suffering with her shotgun in some romantic place. I also think that it would be a dream of every person who got kicked in the head by ten bikers to look like Jim/ Jack afterwards. And Louis' fight with the overwhelming odds... This was simply bad. ()

Glückskind (2017) (S01E09) booo!

Englisch Yeah, yeah, I warned them. It could have been a really good episode that could have brought some light into the story, instead, I got weirdness that didn't entertain me, but brought more nonsense. If this episode was good for anything, it was only for confirming that Angela gets turned on by really strange things. She wouldn't even get mad if Jim/Jack wiped it off with the curtain after sex. And Malcolm's reaction to being stabbed was amazing, he just repressed it. :-DDD ()

Vergeltung (2017) (S01E10) booo!

Englisch Either the creators are intentionally making a fool out of me, or Canada is a promised land for anyone who has a desire to commit a little murder or torture. Even shooting someone on the street in broad daylight doesn't bother anyone too much, life just goes on (unless you're among the victims). I find Anna's character so annoying that I would welcome a hungry grizzly bear. ()

Season 2 (2019) (S02)

Englisch The only positive thing for me about the second season is that it’s finally over. The plot (if there was any) was pointless, the problems that got more attention than the issue of global warming and were being dealt with over the space of five episodes were suddenly gone just like that, only for a new (even more pointless) problem to arise. I will avoid the potential next season like the plague. ()

Blutiger Schnee (2019) (S02E01)

Englisch Now I don't know whether Rowan Joffe got himself into a corner at the end of the first season and now he's desperately looking for a way out, or if he just likes sponges and acid. After the first episode of the second season, I would guess it's a combination of both. This time, the storyline derailed right from the start, so I only gave it a star for making me laugh several times, even though that wasn't the creative intention. ()

Etwas Böses naht (2019) (S02E02)

Englisch Even though it may not always seem like it, when I don't have to, I'm not wasting time! I don't rate. In order to justify this rating, I will say that it was nice to see Christina Hendricks, but otherwise I didn't find anything positive. The mental acrobatics Angela is demonstrating can only be justified by the fact that she recently had brain surgery. ()

Die Wege des Herrn (2019) (S02E03) booo!

Englisch I'm sorry, but this time I just had to. As if it wasn't enough that the second season has been a mess from the very beginning, now the creators have added a religious nonsense to it, and I couldn't handle it anymore. Most of the conversations were completely unnecessary, the story had the pace of a sick turtle, and the plot didn't really go anywhere. ()

Krumme Geschäfte (2019) (S02E04)

Englisch The star followed Elizabeth purely, who brought some interesting elements into the misfortune. I'm really curious about what the scenes with Rosiny's rodeo were actually about. I really don't get it. If it was about artificially prolonging time, then I understand it, it couldn't have been anything else according to me. ()

Jackpot (2019) (S02E05)

Englisch In the fifth episode, I gave my highest rating so far in the second season. No, the story didn't improve, the writer still has his head deep in his ass, but I caught myself enjoying it twice. The first time was thanks to the girls from the paintball team, and the second time was during my visit to Randy's bar. ()

Lügen (2019) (S02E06)

Englisch No, so far, this conversation was the best thing that the second season brought. Chatting with six people in one room gave me more than all five previous episodes with their action-packed yet meaningless plot. I would be even happier if it weren't for Ann's annoying moralizing. ()

Liverpool (2019) (S02E07)

Englisch Well, well, whenever I cautiously praise an episode, I'm immediately punished by the next episode. What was that supposed to be? Years ago, I saw a horror movie that I don't remember much about, except for the impression that when someone answered a call from a certain number, they died within a few days. It looked similar here, with the stripper being shot by a sniper, while Jack just peed his pants (at least it looked like that) like a five-year-old boy in the previous episode. Really stupid. ()
