Frisch vom College müssen die Bellas feststellen, dass es schwieriger ist, in der erbarmungslosen Arbeitswelt den richtigen Ton zu treffen als auf einer A-cappella-Bühne. Die Euphorie nach dem Sieg bei der Weltmeisterschaft ist schnell verpufft, als jede von ihnen bei der Suche nach einem richtigen Job auf sich allein gestellt ist. Umso attraktiver scheint ihnen die Möglichkeit, sich für einen internationalen Wettbewerb ein letztes Mal zusammen zu tun. Anna Kendrick und Rebel Wilson kommen mit dem bewährten Erfolgs-Ensemble in Pitch Perfect 3 wieder zusammen. Es ist ein neues musikalisches Highlight entstanden, welches die Massen erneut begeistern wird. (Universal Pictures Germany)

Third time's the charm. Anna Kendrick is classically very sweet, Rebel Wilson is cracking and very entertaining, Hailee Steinfeld has a decent step forward in my opinion. The songs are traditionally fine, and the more action-packed ending is pleasing. I had a lot of fun watching this chick flick. 65%

Strangely bitter, as if Kay Cannon started writing for a completely different series. The nostalgia for youth and complaints about various parts of their own bodies are downright scary and do not at all fit the teenage target audience, who probably couldn't understand what is being talked about, as well as the age of the main heroines, who are supposed to be between their twenties and thirties. The second growing problem is the absence of any recognizable male characters. Jesse and Bumper disappear from the scene and are replaced by a generic group of soldiers or southerners, never surpassing the label of anonymous handsome men. It is quite difficult to dig your way out of such a catastrophic start, especially when John Lithgow plays the most undignified role of his career. When I see Anna Kendrick getting bored and delivering most of her lines in a neutral manner, it makes me sad. And it gets even worse when I look at the best moments from past installments and even the uneven original (especially the playful second one) feels like a selection of genre gold.

Although I thought the second film was slightly better than the first one, I was expecting a disaster this time. I was wrong, it was okay. It was different in that there was no contest, the filmmakers opted for a fight against a villain instead. It didn't work too well, but I was amused by John Lithgow, who was clearly enjoying the filming. Rebel Wilson played her standard role of a sassy fat girl. Since I haven't really seen her in any other role, it begs the question, is she even acting? Either way, I've grown extremely tired of her. 3*-

The third time's the charm? Plot-wise it's not as good as the previous films, and in fact it's actually quite weak and maybe a bit too loopy, just to keep the audience engaged for the third time. However, the musical numbers are still good and definitely worth watching. The girls have everything they need and their musical arrangements are still great.
