Englisch I can’t seem to understand why James Franco would even star in such a hodgepodge of a movie, because High School Lover is just plain obnoxious. The premise is about Hollywood teenagers who concern themselves with such bull crap that you wish you could slap them all. James Franco’s character might be the only remotely normal one. Everyone else is annoying as hell. ()

Englisch I thought it was going to be a lot grittier. The interesting stuff starts to happen after about an hour into the film, when you get to know the characters, who are not particularly interesting. However, there's a wonderfully functional family dynamic where it doesn't matter that the girl lies to her parents because they love her deeply and always take care of her. I enjoyed Franco's performance here, although I find him entertaining almost anywhere. ()
