Thomas Crown ist nicht zu fassen

In the world of cinema, it's not anything groundbreaking, but it is filmed with perspective and is enjoyable. The chess duel scene can be considered the most beautiful and nonsensical flirt ever to appear on the silver screen. The brilliant deductions of the charming investigator, which could outshine even Sherlock Holmes himself, may bring about an indulgent smile, but they only confirm that the film works much better as a romantic love story than as a crime film. Es fängt zwar gut an, aber allmählich wird daraus ein sehr langweiliger Film. Das Funken zwischen Steve McQueen und Faye Dunaway ist manchmal geradezu greifbar (vor allem bei der Schachpartie). Das nützt aber nichts, wenn mich das Ganze nicht besonders interessiert, geschweige denn begeistert hat. Die ein Jahr jüngere britische Antwort The Italian Job - Charlie staubt Millionen ab ist eine ganz andere Liga. (13.03.2016)
