Als Gereon Rath von seiner Mission in Russland zurückkommt, erfährt er, dass Stefan erschossen wurde. Der Fall bekommt in der Mordkommission oberste Priorität. Bei den Untersuchungen wird von der Ballistik eine interessante Entdeckung gemacht. Dadurch erkennt Gereon, wer hinter dem Mord an Stefan stecken könnte. Er muss sich und seine Liebsten sofort in Sicherheit bringen. Außerdem erfährt er von Benda, dass Stefan verdeckt für ihn gearbeitet hat. (ORF)

After the previous disaster, the creators returned to proven quality. The episode once again did not lack a quality atmosphere, and the creators succeed in illustrating the growing mistrust and tension in the divided society of the Weimar Republic before Adolf Hitler's rise to power.
