After a five-year journey, the moment is here. In the late hours of July 4th, NASA scientists will be focusing on the Juno probe as it attempts to enter a "polar orbit" around the biggest planet in our solar system: Jupiter. Mission Jupiter, a Discovery Canada production revealing the amazing and extreme journey of the one-of-a-kind, armored spacecraft Juno. We'll find out why Juno is such a unique spacecraft, explore the amazing engineering challenge it posed and what we hope to discover from the data it will return. Anchored by DAILY PLANET Co-Host Dr. Dan Riskin on location at t NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) in Pasadena, California, we'll also meet the dedicated and incredible team behind the high stakes-mission who are determined to unlock Jupiter's secrets.

Until now, Jupiter has remained a beautiful mystery. The swirling, stormy clouds and magnificent "red spot" we see in images lie behind radiation and magnetic fields. Juno has been engineered to withstand this harsh environment, and after the longest solar powered space flight (over 1.74 billion miles) its instrumentation will probe the gas planet. Jupiter is believed to be the first planet formed. Learning more about the core of this gas planet, exploring the famous "red spot" - a raging, spinning storm twice the size of earth and the striking auroras, could reveal clues about the formation of the solar system. Get ready for this amazing special with our amazing video explorations of Jupiter and Juno, photos galleries and live coverage of the mission via NASA TV. Then join us as we proudly present Mission Jupiter. (Discovery Networks)
