Lásky Kačenky Strnadové

Given that it’s one of the very few Czech silent films on DVD, it’s quite a disappointment. Because given that there are only two Burians alongside Eroticon, the dramaturgy is highly undeveloped and only having more and more films could help out in this regard. Anything from Weteb or Kalos would be great. On the other hand, outside of Burian fans, nobody expected a miracle from The Loves of Kačenka Strnadová, but it's simply the adequate combination of Innemann, Kavková, and Burian. Meaning that it’s pleasant, rural, and substantial. However, they could have waited until more interesting films paved the way. (15.02.2009)

Der Tanz Kačka-ston, das Quarkkäse-Rennen und das Beschlagen von Schuhen mit Salami, die Fahndung, die geheime Bedienung in der Kneipe und das Anziehen des Mantels… Obwohl der Film The Loves Of Kacenka Strnadova nicht das Level von The Lovers of an Old Criminal erreicht und eher auf demselben Niveau wie Die falsche Katze ist (nur zu lang, was für den Film ein Nachteil ist), hat es Vlasta Burian auch zum drittem Mal geschafft, mich in einem Stummfilm (manchmal) so wie in einem Tonfilm zu unterhalten. Natürlich gefällt es mir besser, wenn ich ihn auch höre und wenn der Arme nicht so intensiv mit den Augen rollen muss. Es ist aber immer noch lustig. (09.02.2019)
