An ornamented Iron Age mirror was found using a metal detector near Didcot, England in 2006. It is currently on display as part of a permanent exhibition at the Oxfordshire Museum. Before being put on public display, it underwent a series of tests in order to uncover some of its long history. Doctor Peter Northover, an expert in metallurgy from Oxford, was among the archaeologists working on the find. He analysed the samples and explored the details as to where, how and why the mirror was made. In addition to the technical details, the archaeologists are also interested in what it can tell them about the life of its owners and the importance of decorative objects in the Iron Age. Director Sharon Woodward demonstrates in her film that even seemingly ordinary objects can hold many secrets. (Academia Film Olomouc)
