January 20,1990. The date that went down in the history of the people of Azerbaijani as a bloody January. On that very day, small country, later to be recognized de facto -- a Republic of Azerbaijan stood up to a great Soviet Empire to fight for its' freedom and independence that consequently led to a bloodshed of innocent civilians by a USSR army. Marching into the different cities of Azerbaijan, Soviet army, with their tanks and accompaning heavy artilery would indiscrimantely slaugther people confronted on their way. Nevertheless, epic clashes took place in the capital, Baku. About 140 local residents and up to 30 military officers were shot dead. Nation will never forget an ardent young and teen-ager patriots who took the street valiantly displaying their flaring passion for freedom, thus willing to sacrifice the most precious blessing in the world—the life. Movie "Black January" unfolds that historical event through the eyes of the Narimanovs, the Azerbaijanian family. The witness of black january events, the producer of the movie Vahid Mustafa Yev, has attempted to reanimate the stories as realistically as possible and challenged many questions to find the answers for the disputed cost of independence, gauging duties of mothers and offspring thereof and last but not the least, if anyone, I mean, anyone holding the firearm, could be regarded as a just person at all...
