Um an die Macht zu kommen, ist den kriegerischen Wikinger-Brüdern Sligon und Thagnar jedes Mittel recht. Erst ermorden sie kaltblütig die Eltern von Prinz Eisenherz, und dann bringen sie auch noch das sagenhafte Schwert Excalibur in ihre Gewalt. Doch der tapfere Prinz Eisenherz, Knappe auf Schloss Camelot, denkt gar nicht daran, den Wikingern kampflos das Feld zu überlassen. In der bezaubernden Prinzessin Ilene findet er bei seinen Heldentaten nicht nur Unterstützung, sondern schließlich auch die große Liebe. (Verleiher-Text)

To compare Prince Valiant with an A-grade production like Excalibur (which Anthony Hickox, among other influences, distantly drew inspiration from and sought to at least partially emulate in terms of reception) would be like choosing between a Boo! and a one-star rating. However, while objectively better films may leave you disappointed because of high expectations, there are also films that are so delightfully silly and amateurish that they become charming and entertaining. The acting of most involved is so wooden that I couldn't help but grin from ear to ear. It vaguely reminds me of the work of Ed Wood. Overall impression: 35%.

Valiant. That’s more like a name for a cartoon pigeon who worked with the postal service in the Second World War, or if you switch round the letters, it could be the brand of heating furnace with the green rabbit. Things like prince, Camelot and Excalibur didn’t occur to me at all. Well, it was quite fun, so one star for that and the other for Ron Perlman.
