Ucukušii hoši

Based on the classic science fiction novel published by Mishima Yukio in 1962. Although the original story focuses on the anxiety regarding the fall of mankind under the threat of a nuclear war, the movie was adapted for modern situations, boasting a star-studded cast. Lily Franky of Like Father, Like Son plays a Martian father, Nakajima Tomoko of Tokyo Family plays the Earthling mother, Drops of God's Kamenashi Kazuya plays the Mercurian son, and Hashimoto Ai from The World of Kanako the Venusian daughter. The characters from different planets make a family, trying to save an Earth suffering from environmental problems, but the situation doesn't seem odd or unreasonable. Since Japan has experienced all kinds of disasters tsunamis, earthquakes and the destruction of nuclear plants this story appeals for its vicarious satisfaction for the impossible hope in reality. There are many scenes we can analyze in adapting the parallel theory, the theory of relativity, and the philosophical concept of the transcendental ego. (Busan International Film Festival)
