Eloy Domínguez Serén, the film's director and main character, emigrates to Sweden and gets by on odd jobs. He observes the people around him, the surrounding culture and tries to understand the world he finds himself in. He uses his camera and aims it at both himself and the people and places that interest him. This canny pearl of a film essay succeeds at mixing seriousness and warmth. The director has a humorous and curious slant, and the new country soon begins to seem and less strange for the directing camera eye. With his low-key humor and modest viewpoint No Cow on the Ice gives us insight into a person's daily life in a new and for each day seemingly less-foreign country. (Göteborg Film Festival)
