At first, I wasn't sure if Disraeli's character in this film was meant to be just a caricature because that's how he looks. The film is very theatrical, aided by the performance of George Arliss, but it's precisely him who keeps the film afloat and makes it at least somewhat exceptional, not just a historical play. ()
