Nada's Revolutie

"Without the revolution, I would not be the person I am today," says Nada who, against the backdrop of Egyptian political changes in 2011, fulfils her own dream – to manage a children's theatre. But as an independent artist in Egypt, she still has to overcome many obstacles. For example, to convince theatre directors that democracy is a fit topic for children's plays. Like the protesters in the streets, Nada does not give up and follows her dream, which is so different from her mother's ideas about the role of women in Egyptian society. Nada's story presents an unusually personal aspect of the revolution in Egypt, the quest for the meaning of freedom and the struggle to achieve it. (One World)
