'The Boston Globe' bekommt 2001 mit Marty Baron einen neuen Chefredakteur. Ein Bericht über den pädophilen Priester John Geoghan veranlasst ihn, weiter nachforschen zu lassen. Erzbischof Kardinal Bernard Law scheint von dem Kindermissbrauch zwar gewusst, dies aber verschwiegen zu haben. Baron setzt daher sein investigatives Reporter-Team 'Spotlight' ein.
