The documentary traces the life struggle of Phuong, a young boy suffering from blood cancer since the age of 3. During 4 years of treatment at the Tumor Treatment Department of the National Children Hospital, Phuong and Dao, his mother, spend extended periods of time in the hospital, living with syringes, chemo-treatment and much physical pain. Phuong's mother had to sell off the entire family fortune, and get huge loans just to pay off the hospital fees. Despite these hardships, the disease keeps on tormenting the 7-year-old boy and testing his mother. Dao bursts into tears, unable to understand her miserable conditions. However, she never gives up hope in her sons recovery. She is the archetype of the Vietnamese woman of indomitable will: she is willing to accept hardships to make sacrifices for her son.
