Als Max Simkin eines Tages entdeckt, dass die alte Leder-Nähmaschine in seinem Keller magische Kräfte besitzt, öffnet sich das Tor in eine neue Welt für den Schuhmacher. Er kann von nun an in die Identität jedes Kunden schlüpfen, dessen Schuhe er mit der alten Maschine repariert hat. Was für ein Abenteuer! Der stille, zurückgezogene Mann zieht erstmal los und probiert sich aus. Doch bald dämmert ihm, dass die neue magische Freiheit nicht ganz ungefährlich ist und auch ein gutes Stück Verantwortung bedeutet. Sandler failed miserably with this one. The movie was quite civil, but it could have at least been a bit watchable. This flick was incredibly boring and the Jewish music motifs didn’t make it better, either.

This ending feels terribly lost and gives you the feeling that something that could have been still interesting is cut in half, but there's nothing you can do about it. When it comes to a movie with Sandler, I simply can't be objective. I enjoyed this film, there are interesting actors here, and even though the plot is not well executed, the journey was interesting and imaginative in some places.
