Die Schriftsteller Dulal und Mainak träumen davon, als Drehbuchautoren Bollywood aufzumischen. Dem stehen allerdings die massiven Defizite der beiden schrägen Vögel in Sachen Manieren und Seriosität entgegen. Als sie mit ihrer Idee zum Film „Sulemani Keeda“ erfolglos einen Produzenten nach dem anderen abklappern, stolpern sie über den Möchtegern-Star Gonzo, Sohn eines bekannten Kino-Tycoons, der prompt ein Drehbuch in Auftrag gibt. Endlich ist die Chance zum Greifen nah – doch Dulal verliebt sich Hals über Kopf in Ruma, die ganz andere Pläne hat… (Zurich Film Festival)

Even though Bollywood has the largest film industry in the world, no one rivals it in terms of quantity, not even Hollywood. But even in Bollywood, it's not easy to come up with a captivating screenplay, which is also the basic plot of the movie Writer. Mostly, however, it is a film about two young men who have a dream, but also live a fairly ordinary life. It's not provincial, just nicely human.
