Adonis 'Donnie' Creed ist als uneheliches Kind des Boxer Apollo Creed in Kinderheimen und Jugendknast aufgewachsen. Seinen Vater hat er nicht kennen gelernt. Erst nach dessen Tod hat sich Creeds Frau Mary Anne seiner angenommen. Auch wenn sie ihm eine gute Ausbildung bieten will, verfolgt Adonis nur ein Ziel: Wie sein Vater will er Boxer werden. Er kündigt seinen Job und zieht von L.A. nach Philadelphia. Dort will Donnie Boxer-Legende Rocky Balboa als Trainer gewinnen, den einst härtesten Gegner Apollo Creeds. (ORF)
