To liberate her father from debts, young Khalifah promises herself to a salesman, Rasyid, who is an orthodox Muslim. The new husband forces her to wear an abaya, a robe covering the whole body including the face. Khalifah submits and endures the reaction of her family and others, but she would do everything for her husband, who spends a suspicious amount of time travelling. It seems that even Rasyid himself doesn't live the virtuous life according to the Quran. Nurman Hakim's second film illustrates religious bullying and blackmail within a simple story. (Febiofest)
