Der Engel von San Bernardino (2018) (S03E20)
The idea of rental families definitely intrigued me, it clearly has a future. I enjoyed Mazikeen's effort to return to her original workplace as well as Charlotte's departure from asceticism, and eventually I had the feeling again that the series is returning to what worked for me.

Der bessere Pierce (2018) (S03E21)
Ungh... No, not like this, please. I have a big problem with the twenty-first episode because the Lucifer-Chloe-Pierce triangle strongly reminds me of soap opera plots. The humor is disappearing into unknown territory, and some cheap romantic drama takes over. I hope this was just a one-time occurrence.

So if the previous episode reminded me of a soap opera, this one just emphasized it. The season has completely changed, the relaxed humor and lightness have disappeared, instead the creators started indulging in silly and twisted relationship dramas and for unknown reasons they try to play with emotions. Bad. 2*

Durch und durch Deckerstar (2018) (S03E23)
The creators returned to the series after two tragic interruptions, which I liked, and convinced me that maybe not everyone had undergone a lobotomy. It's just a shame that they decided to remove the character that provided the most entertainment lately. We'll see how they will continue to do.

Gut oder Böse? (2018) (S03E24)
The final episode was clearly five-star, but the creators decided to clog the functioning gears with a bucket of pathos, and because I can't stand playing on emotions in a straightforward manner, I couldn't rate it more than four pieces. I didn't understand why episodes 21 and 22 were so desperately bad when the next two turned out very decently.

Besuch aus der Geisterwelt (2018) (S03E25)
The twenty-fifth episode of the third season was a very boring affair and I couldn't figure out why anyone even bothered to make it. It was actually just a bonus episode focused on Ella Lopez, but it wasn't funny or otherwise interesting, and I didn't understand why the actress playing the angel of death had the appearance of a child with Down syndrome. I also don't exactly look like a hunk, but I am aware of that and I'm not planning on playing the role of Adonis.

The creators wrapped it up very nicely. I understand that during filming they still thought the series was ending, but they could have tried harder. The episode set in an alternative reality was actually about nothing, I had nothing to laugh at, I couldn't relax because I was upset about what I was watching, so it was just a waste of time.

Season 4 (2019) (S04)
I must admit that Netflix rarely disappoints me, but season 4 of Lucifer was unfortunately a step in the wrong direction. The relaxing and hilarious series turned into a dull story about relationships, going around every issue in circles because otherwise there would be nothing left to shoot next time. When I heard last year that the third season was going to be the last, I wasn’t happy. But it might not have been such a bad idea after all.

Alles in Ordnung (2019) (S04E01)
I was eagerly anticipating the new season. However, the first episode didn't quite live up to my expectations. As I've mentioned before, I view Lucifer as pure entertainment, a show where I can have a good laugh. Unfortunately, this time, the laughs were few and far between, and the romantic storyline, which I wasn't particularly invested in, seemed to take center stage.

If I gave the last episode three stars, I logically had to drop this one down to two. The investigation was lackluster, the humor was too weak to stand out, and the main focus seemed to be on the muddled relationship drama. And that plotline with the exorcist… honestly, it just didn't do it for me.

A real treat — it's the first episode I genuinely enjoyed in this season. If it weren't for that melodramatic ending, I'd easily give it four stars. Finally, we got an investigation that kept me engaged, sprinkled with some humor. And believe it or not, they even made the presence of an exorcist justifiable. 3*+

Alles über Eva (2019) (S04E04)
The fourth episode was the most enjoyable for me so far in this season. Eve brought a refreshing energy to the plot, keeping the investigation engaging, and there were plenty of laughs to be had. My favorite scenes included Linda's ultrasound and the bar fight.

Ich sterbe erhobenen Gliedes! (2019) (S04E05)
Lucifer's recent involvement in the investigation was quite a ride, and I have to hand it to the creators for their portrayal of Eve - she's up for anything (from sex to breaking the law), yet she always gave me the impression that if I shined a flashlight in her ear, her eyes would light up. I found myself laughing and certainly wasn't bored, which is exactly what I expect from this series.

Honestly, the arrival of yet another angelic being on Earth didn't exactly thrill me. Thankfully, the creators sprinkled in some humor. Still, I couldn't shake off the feeling of annoyance with the constant attempts at a sappy romantic style. Those scenes would fit much better in a completely different genre. 4*-

Sure, the humor took a bit of a dive, but Daniel's guerrilla speak really grabbed my attention, injecting an interesting twist into the story. Still, I can't help but feel a nostalgic pull towards the first and second seasons. 4*-

I've already mentioned my dislike for the shift from easygoing, entertaining storytelling to the irritating tropes often found in soap operas. The same goes for the need to address the struggles of marginalized groups in every American movie or series.

Lucifer retten (2019) (S04E09)
This episode was a refreshing shift from the last part. Instead of the tired narrative of oppressed minorities battling a fascist police force, the story took a different turn, and it felt like a return to form. The previous episode had me rolling my eyes, but this one? It brought back the good vibes.

Wer ist der neue Höllenfürst? (2019) (S04E10)
It seems I'm in the minority with my take, but hey, that's nothing new. I'm not one to be swayed by the crowd anyway. As much as I wanted to be swept away, it felt like I was watching a soap opera set in a rather unconventional backdrop. That old cliché, "I love you, but I have to go," popped up not once, but twice (even if it was more subtle with Eve), and cramming it into fifty-six minutes felt a bit overdone.
