Buzkashi Boys

Ahmad and Rafi are two friends living in a desolate suburb of Kabul, Afghanistan. While Ahmad dreams of becoming a rider of the national horse race, “Buzkashi”, Rafi is resigned to take over his father's trade and become a blacksmith. A tragic accident forces Rafi to ask if obeying his despotic father is the only choice he has in life. The film contemplates whether the children, determined by the environment, even have a chance to defy their fate and choose a different life than was destined to them. The picture depicts the poverty-stricken suburbs of Kabul with great authenticity, not only thanks to the nonchalant, easy acting of the main protagonists, but also with the assistance of an inquisitive camera.
