In three visually stunning and emotive episodes the history of Russia is brought to life. Starting at the end of the 17th century with Peter the Great and running through to the fall of the Soviet Union in 1991, the miniseries illustrates the fascination of Russia through the centuries.
The focus lies on the key events that defined the various epochs of this huge realm and which still resonate to this very day. The story is told through the history of three major Russian cities: St. Petersburg, Volgograd, formerly Stalingrad, and Moscow. This is where everything comes together: key turning points in politics and war, tales of heroes, world-changing inventions and discoveries. In short these are snapshots of human happiness and boundless energy as well as huge tragedies affecting entire peoples and dramas on a historic scale. "Russia's History Revealed" is a docudrama set against the backdrop of impressive landscapes and historic locations, combined with a wealth of fascinating and previously unseen archive material and exciting, emotive re-enactments, which bring to life the various Russian eras in opulent detail.
