Jess und Milly sind seit ihrer Schulzeit beste Freundinnen. Auch wenn ihre Lebenswege unterschiedlich verlaufen, wissen sie voneinander einfach alles und sind unzertrennlich. Milly genießt als erfolgreiche PR-Agentin mit Ex-Roadie Kit und ihren zwei Kindern in einem schicken Häuschen das Familienglück. Jess lebt mit dem bodenständigen Handwerker Jago auf einem kleinen Hausboot und wünscht sich sehnlichst, aber bislang vergeblich, ein Kind. Als bei Milly Brustkrebs diagnostiziert wird, erfährt Jess, schwanger zu sein. Jetzt sind die beiden füreinander wichtiger denn je. (ORF)

Thanks to the acting performances, it is very fine and even the passages that would be overly sensitive elsewhere can be tolerated. The finale is very well filmed and the death itself is captured very well, but I'm still not sure what the film was trying to say? That dying hurts? That it's cruel? That you can reconcile with it? Or is it just that there are actors who know how to play?

The opening ten minutes didn't impress me much, but after that, it was a ride in the best sense of the word. No film has given me so many different feelings that changed in my core while watching a film for a long time. It's not common for a film about cancer to feel like a little celebration of life most of the time, and yet at times, it moved me to tears. The applause on the open stage was undoubtedly deserved by the absolutely fantastic Toni Collette, but Drew Barrymore did great too. It should be noted that the emotionally charged story is accompanied by very tastefully chosen music. (80%)
