The talented young playwright, Benedek Máté, arriving straight from the Alps, gets only as far as the reception desk of the Kolozsvár National Theatre with his play, where he is not at all encouraged. He prepares to commit suicide, which is prevented by the owner of the cafeteria "Éva". Éva, taking advantage of her resemblance to the well-known actress, visits the attractive young gentleman disguised as Torday Klára. She takes away his revolver and promises to help him with his play. The next day Máté visits the real actress, who, not surprisingly, knows nothing of her promises of the previous day. The deceived young man gets a revolver again and plans to shoot himself in the head during the evening performance. Éva manages to prevent even this public suicide. The two young people confess their love to each other. The scandal calls attention to the talented young man and the theatre includes his play in its repertoire. (Verleiher-Text)
