With the background of the events of last January, when more than three thousand Czech hospital doctors threatened to move abroad, Viktor Polesný decided to look at the problem from the other side. A double portrait of top Czech specialists was created. Cardiac surgeon Jan Pirk and neurosurgeon Vladimír Beneš never thought of leaving. According to them, medicine is based on common sense, accuracy and confidence between patient and doctor. Their work requires total commitment and absolute concentration. Scenes of working life are intermingled with shots showing both doctors in their free time. Outside the operating room they talk about the football match results with the hospital staff, make jokes with the film crew and order goulash with six dumplings for lunch. Jan Pirk spends weekends at velorex rallies with other enthusiasts, while once a year Vladimír Beneš sets off to collect insects in exotic locations. At the end of the movie the authors ask both protagonists the key question; whether a doctor has the right to leave. Vladimír Beneš replies that it is morally unacceptable for a doctor to leave. Their leaving will only be a well-deserved retirement. (Academia Film Olomouc)
