In England 1941, a group of young Czechoslovak soldiers is preparing for challenging missions in their enemy-occupied country. None of them foresees at that time what final effects their act will have on the history. A new group of rebels is being formed in a small village called Ležáky and situated near the town of Chrudim. Their mission is simple – they are collecting weapons for the future fight against the German occupier. At first sight, however, the romantic valley lives with its peaceful everyday life. Jan Pavliš, a young man coming originally from a village called Pustá Rybná, starts to work in the local mill as an apprentice of the Millers Guild. He does not know at that time of what essential importance this choice will be for his future life. Czechoslovak parachutists appear near the mill along with the arrival of a new year: their task is to coordinate the rebels´ activity in the Protectorate. Honzík understands only one thing: that the peaceful period of his life is over. With the help of the villagers from Ležáky and neighbouring Miřetice, the parachutists organize various rebellious operations including the priority one – preparation to assassinate the substitute Reich Protector, Reinhard Heydrich. The consequences of this act will not be long in coming. What will the miller´s apprentice do in these fatal moments? (Verleiher-Text)
