1874. Der junge Konrad Koch wird als Englischlehrer an einem Braunschweiger Gymnasium angestellt. Gehorsam und Disziplin gelten an der Schule als oberste Tugenden. Koch aber, der in England studierte, sorgt vom ersten Tag an mit seinen eigenwilligen Lehrmethoden für Irritation. So weckt er das Interesse der Schüler an englischer Sprache durch eine britische, in Deutschland bis dahin völlig unbekannte Sportart: Fußball. Den konservativen Eltern und Lehrern ist das ein Dorn im Auge. Sie wollen Koch um jeden Preis wieder loswerden. (ARD)

I love soccer and would like to see the story of how the sport came to our country. At the moment I’ll have to make do with a German story. Because when I saw in this movie how it turned out in Germany, I realized that it’s actually a pretty good story. German cinematography used to be unfairly criticized quite a lot, and I have to admit that lately, every film they make is a surprise. I instantly connected with the story and I really understood the guys who fell in love with soccer. Even I would do stupid things with a ball all day if I could. And when I was able to, I didn’t appreciate it as much. Anyway, it’s a great movie. If you like soccer, then you simply have to watch it. When I came across this movie, I didn’t hesitate and went to see it right away.
