(Verleiher-Text)

Englisch Erwin is an essential loner who does not speak and who willingly and relievedly accepts his mother's care, who lovingly facilitates his contact with the world, and protects him from the stress and uncertainty of his decision-making. The "Mom Hotel" works like a charm, but one day Erwin decides to find a partner through an agency in distant Romania. Scenes of encounters with girls eager for life in wealthy Germany, combined with Erwin's clumsiness, fall into the genre of pure comedy. After bringing his chosen one back to his homeland, it seems like a romance is in store for him, as the spirited Romanian gradually erodes the impenetrable shell of her future husband and molds him to her own image. However, as the minutes of the film pass, it quickly turns into a heavy drama of conflict between two very different personalities. The apparent happy ending only gives a small hope for a long-term relationship and happy coexistence. The strengths of the film can be attributed to its rejection of traditional clichés in relationship films, but the shadowy aspect is represented by Erwin himself. His self-centeredness and desperate lack of empathy push him to the edge of sociopathy. It is difficult to establish a positive relationship with such a character, and I did not feel very comfortable in that microcosm where everyone acts out of selfish motives and wants to buy something. Overall impression: 45%. ()
