Dvoe v stepi

In the summer of 1942 the Soviet troops are waging severe battles against the Germans near the Don. Young lieutenant Ogarkov fails to deliver a message to a division fighting in the steppe. As a result, it gets surrounded by the enemy troops. Ogarkov is sentenced to death. But before the sentence is carried out, the headquarters evacuate, and now he and his guard have to walk through the steppe together, fighting and sleeping side by side. They become friends, never forgetting that one is convoying the other to be executed. (Moscow International Film Festival)
