Roy Munson (Woody Harrelson) hat ein goldenes Händchen, wenn er die Kegelkugel führt. Geschult von seinem Vater, unterrichtet in allen fairen Tricks des Sports, macht sich das wohlbehütete Talent auf in die grosse Welt des Wettkampfs. Bei der ersten Begegnung fegt er gleich den bis dahin unangefochtenen Champion Big Ern McCracken (Bill Murray) weg. Dieses unsportliche Schlitzohr dankt es dem Newcomer mit einem fiesen Hinterhalt und lässt das Greenhorn in die Hände rüder Rednecks fallen. Gedemütigt zermalmen die faschistoiden Kegler Roys Wunderhand. 16 Jahre später: Roy ist so weit unten, wie man nur sein kann. Mehr schlecht als recht schlägt er sich als Verkäufer von Bowlingzubehör durch und muss seine Miete mit Liebesdiensten bei der hässlichen Vermieterin begleichen. Doch dann stösst er auf seiner Verkaufstour auf ein schier unglaubliches Talent: Als er den naiven Ishmael Boorg (Randy Quaid) beim Kegeln sieht, werden Erinnerungen an seine Jugend wach. (SRF)

A comedy that I simply had to enjoy as it was made by the Farrell brothers. In the end, I can’t say it was their best one, but it still is a comedy that was pretty cool in various ways. There were scenes I loved but there were also many mediocre shots of bowling balls sliding down bowling lanes. And the ending is pretty boring for a comedy. But I get it, the movie was about bowling. All in all, the trio Harrelson, Quaid and Vanessa Angel are definitely something that is worth seeing together for at least one more time.

A wholesome comedy that is on its way to a full score. The leading four are excellent. The teen bowling champion Woody Harrelson with a hook for a right hand, the Amish Randy Quaid, who is a complete stranger to the customs and traditions of the everyday world and is so polite it's laughable, the beautiful Vanessa Angel, who takes care of the men's erections, and the main villain Bill Murray, who has the role of a lifetime here, playing the biggest bastard who will screw over even his biggest friend. The gags are absolutely perfect, most of the people in the film have an IQ of around 50, so every scene is funny (changing a horse's legs instead of removing the shoe was powerful even for me). I recommend it to everyone, I laughed as hard as I could. 85%.
