Jane Fonda als betörende Catherine Ballou, ein junges Mädchen, das Lee Marvin anheuert, um ihren Vater vor einem bösartigen Revolverhelden zu schützen. Zu ihrem Schrecken muss Cat aber feststellen, dass sie sich auf den Beschützer nicht recht verlassen kann, weil er meist mehr oder minder betrunken rumhängt. A big borefest with simple almost stupid humour that was lucky that Lee Marvin was brilliant and Jane Fonda so beautiful. I also liked the songs, but I was pretty bored for most of the time.

This is a kind of western comedy that stands out more for its cast, with Jane Fonda and Lee Marvin worth seeing, though I confess I don't quite get the Oscar for Lee Marvin. Could Laurence Olivier have given a worse performance in Othello? However, it must be admitted that the sets work, and most interesting are the songs that intersperse the film.
